Millennium Castle: A Defense Against the Fujii System
Your Strategy | Static Rook |
Opponent’s Strategy | Ranging Rook |
Pros | It is a countermeasure against the “Fujii System” strategy and has a sturdiness similar to the Anaguma formation. |
Cons | It’s primarily a counter to the “Fujii System” strategy, but it has a high move count, so it’s not used often. |
Move count | 11 |
The Millennium Castle is one of the strong defenses against the Fujii System. It keeps the king safe from the opponent’s bishop’s attack and makes it harder for them to use their right knight.
Additionally, it anticipates side attacks in the mid to late game by placing a gold or silver general next to the king for extra durability.
How To Build A Millennium formation
- Open the bishop’s diagonal.
- Advance the right silver and make sure it is ready for use.
- Move the king closer to the castle.
- Move the right gold general to the second rank to strengthen defense against side attacks.
- Move the bishop and jump the knight.
- The spot where the knight was is a safe position for the king (out of the bishop’s line).
- Place the silver and gold generals close to the king for strong protection.
The Millennium Castle is designed to counter the Fujii System, and the key is to keep the king out of the bishop’s diagonal line. If the king is in the bishop’s line, the Fujii System can quickly overwhelm you. The Millennium Castle avoids this while offering a strong defense similar to Anaguma.
It’s a specialized formation, but if you struggle against the Fujii System, it’s a good one to learn.
